The National Gamekeepers' Organisation's 'NGO Golden Pheasant', a national gamekeepers' clay shooting competition in association with JCB Workmax, was held recently at the Checkley Estate in Cheshire by kind permission of Nick and Ivor Beavis.

The shooting was as challenging as always and the exciting layout had some innovative targets, the most memorable would be the rat and the squirrel. Both caught out the most experienced of shots!

Over 120 NGO member entrants enjoyed an excellent lunch, which was included in the entry fee, and the chance to catch up with keepers from right across the UK.

The NGO Golden Pheasant and high gun class were won by Mr A Thompson from Staffordshire with a remarkable score of 94 out of 100. Second place in the NGO Golden Pheasant class was Mr G Salmon from Northamptonshire with a score of 91 out of 100.
