Golden Grouse Results 2025

On Monday 9^th June, the NGO held the prestigious Golden Grouse competition at Thimbleby Shooting Ground in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.

The day was very well attended with 125 guns, many competing just to win the Golden Grouse trophy. It was great to see so many friends meeting up and enjoying the friendly atmosphere interspersed with a healthy pinch of competitive banter.

The challenging 100 bird sporting layout was set over 12 stands, and with shots competing in six categories (Grouse Keeper, Supporter, Lady Gun, Side by Side, Veteran and Junior) there was a competition for everyone.

There was also a Pool Shoot and a 4-man Team Flush, which was won by the Hartside Estate Team. We are hoping to turn the Team Flush into a more formal competition, pitting estates against each other to win a trophy and bragging rights. Watch this space for more information!

Our thanks go to Phil Thompson and the Thimbleby team, who not only put on a fantastic sporting clay shooting competition, but provided a relaxed atmosphere and superb hospitality, making the day even more special.

This event could not take place if it was not for the generosity of the Thimbleby Estate.
