The Essex-based gamedealer Ben Rigby Game Ltd is to become a sponsor of the National Gamekeepers" Organisation.

The Essex-based gamedealer Ben Rigby Game Ltd is to sponsor the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO). The move will see the partners pool their expertise to help keepers and shoot managers streamline the game supply chain from shoot to shop.

The new initiative will focus on highlighting best practice in key aspects of the game-handling process including collection, storage, and transport. The sponsorship also seeks to educate the public about the sustainability of game and game production. Ben Rigby Game Ltd was established in 1979.

Ben Rigby Game Ltd, a family run business for almost 40 years, began by supplying game to Smithfield Market. The company, with its roots in farming, today employs more than 30 staff. It runs an FSA-approved state-of-the-art processing facility near Maldon, Essex and has customers internationally.

Paul Scott, the Sales &, Marketing Manager at Ben Rigby Game Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation. The quality of UK game is unrivalled and is a world-beating product, largely thanks to the hard work of keepers. It is a huge pleasure for us to be able to support our industry, and to put something back, by sponsoring the NGO.”

Liam Bell, the Chairman of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, said: “We are extremely pleased to have Ben Rigby Game Ltd aboard as a new NGO sponsor. We have a great deal in common as game is at the heart of what we both do. Sharing ideas in this new partnership will benefit our members and the industry. Delicious game is an excellent way to sell keepering to the public.”

It is estimated that game meat sales topped £106 million in 2015 and are anticipated to grow to £143million by 2020, according to market intelligence agency, Mintel.

Game buyers for Ben Rigby Ltd source game from across the UK, with the traceability of all its game being absolutely guaranteed: venison comes from sustainable forests and managed estates, with small game originating from the finest sporting estates.
