The National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO) has responded to the Law Commission’s consultation paper on making firearms law “more balanced and more effective”.
The Law Commission sought the views of firearms users and others in order to gather evidence on consolidating and tidying up firearms law, which is, at present, to be found in more than 30 pieces of legislation.

A spokesman for the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation said: “Firearms ownership and use is an essential part of a gamekeeper’s job and therefore, as professional users of firearms, our members’ comments bring a unique perspective to any review of firearms law. We have told the Law Commission that the NGO will be happy to discuss or expand on any of the points we have raised if the Law Commission would find that useful.”
