On June the 3rd, East Allenheads Estate hosted the 2015 Golden Grouse. The day was a huge success with over 150 competitors taking part.
The Golden Grouse clay shoot competition returned to the renowned East Allenheads earlier this month, after Andrew Coulson took the top spot in 2014. The Allenheads team were well aware of what the job entailed after hosting it back in 2013. This year the team excelled themselves, delivering an exceptional day in a fabulous location.
On the run up to the event the weather conditions had been dreadful, but luck was on our side on the all important day! The sun came out and so did penty of members. Andrew and the team along with renowned shooting coach Adam Calvert put together a fantastic layout of sporting stands, and many people have passed comments on how good the layout was.
Sue Wardle, estate secretary was on hand to do the presentations on behalf of the East Allenheads Estate, Sue was instrumental to the planning and successful execution of the event. There were some fantastic scores throughout the day, The Golden Grouse Trophy was awarded to Roger Ayton of Knarsdale Estate with a brilliant score of 90/100. It is not the first time Roger has won at the Golden Grouse, several years ago Roger competed in the Juniors category and won so it was great to see him come and do the same again in the open keepers catgory! The overal high score was posted by Gareth Maund, shooting a fantastic 93/100.
Our new sponsors Polaris came along with two demonstrators which were used throughout the day showcaseing what they are capable of, it was great to have them there supporting the day.
