Richard Faulds MBE hosts NGO clay shoot with Sparsholt students scoring

Olympic double-trap gold medallist Richard Faulds MBE, and his wife Tanya, played hosts to a fun and sun-drenched NGO Team Flush Clay Shoot at Owls Lodge Shooting School in Hampshire on Thursday, May 18th. Thanks to sponsors' support, the event, now in its second year, raised more than £5,500 for the National Gamekeepers' Organisation.

Speaking about the day, NGO Development Officer (South) Tim Weston, said: 'Everyone commented on what a well-organised and fun day this was, thanks to the great layout organised by Owls Lodge Shooting School and the many prizes kindly donated by sponsors Browning, Elanco, The Gun Shop at Botley, Sportsman Game Feeds, Kings, Game and Country (South-West), Lyalvale Express, Marsdens Game Feeds, and St David's Veterinary Practices. Thanks also go to Richard and Tanya and team for all their support.'

Forty teams of four competed in the 600 bird flush layout over six stands, the winning team being 'Castle Hill 2', led by captain David Sexon, with a score of 569. In second place was 'Just Cartridges' with a score of 564 and in third place was 'Nick Canter' with a score of 552. The losing team 'The Funnerlers' will be recipients of an hour's private tuition kindly donated by Richard Faulds MBE.

Gamekeeping students from nearby Sparsholt College helped with the scoring and as a thank you will be receiving a Loaders' Best Practice Course delivered by the NGO. The course is designed to reinforce the safety principles of assisted shooting in the field and is delivered and certificated by NGO Development Officers nationwide.
