The annual NGO Golden Grouse clay shoot was held at E.J. Churchill at the Swinton Estate on Wednesday 19th June, the first time at this venue and it proved very popular with the members.

There were some fantastic prizes on offer thanks to our sponsors, Carr’s Billington, Skinner’s, L&A Dent Game Dealers, Treksta, 4 Elements Clothing and Killgerm.

We were delighted to see a very good turnout, with 111 members registering to take part, which paved the way for good competition and forced 3 shoot outs to determine the podium places for the 6 categories on offer. These were made up of ladies, juniors, veterans, side by side, supporter and the prestigious Golden Grouse (Grouse keepers only).

The results are as follows:

Ladies: 1st Amanda Knight (55), 2nd Ruth Bell (51), 3rd Tracy Johnson (25)

Juniors: 1st Oliver Edwards (77), 2nd Anthony Clark (71), 3rd Jack Robinson (68)

Veterans: 1st Graham Vessey, (84), Tony Smith (77), 3rd Steve Morton (76)

Side by Side: 1st Roger Ayton (86), 2nd Graham Vessey (84), 3rd Brandon Wearmouth (69)

Supporter: 1st Les Rushworth (91), 2nd Graham Vessey (84), 3rd Frank Lowrison

Golden Grouse: 1st Roger Ayton (86), 2nd Lee Walker (82), 3rd Michael Smith (84)

A very good day, the weather was kind with the shooters enjoying the hospitality of Churchill’s and their veranda in the sun with a good number staying for the presentation.
