The NGO is deeply saddened to learn of the death today (30 March) of one of its great friends and supporters, Dr Dick Potts, the former Director General of the Game Conservancy Trust, now the Game &, Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Liam Bell, the Chairman of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation on hearing the news said: “Gamekeepers have lost a great friend and influential supporter and advocate. Dr Dick Potts was a scientist and wildlife biologist of global standing, indeed the world’s foremost expert on the grey partridge and its conservation. His research shed new light on understanding the reasons behind the decline in partridge numbers, and its pioneering nature helped draw up a blueprint capable of turning around the fortunes of this iconic gamebird species. Dick was also a loyal champion of the NGO and its work. He will be greatly missed by keepers and countrymen everywhere. May we extend our condolences to his family on their loss.”
