The lucky winner of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation / Polaris Prize Draw for a Polaris Ranger Diesel 1000 D – worth more than £13,000 – was an “absolutely delighted” Huw Crompton from Hampshire, who thinks the vehicle will “transform” his working life as a landscape architect.
Polaris – a shoot vehicle manufacturer of first choice for many gamekeepers and land managers – is a main sponsor of the NGO, which promotes and defends keepers and keepering in England and Wales.
On taking delivery Huw Crompton said: “I am absolutely delighted. I’ve never won anything before. It is a wonderful surprise, and the Polaris Ranger Diesel 1000 D is perfect for me. I do much of my landscape work on open, hard to get at hillsides, and the UTV will get me to these remote spots, whatever the weather. It will transform my job. I want to thank the NGO and Polaris for really making my year.”
Mr Crompton is a member of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation and bought his £2 winning ticket on the NGO stand at last year’s Highclere Country Show in Berkshire. Mr Crompton will use the Polaris Ranger Diesel 1000 D at his workplace, a project to develop what will eventually become England’s biggest new box forest since the time of Elizabeth I [see Notes to Editors] when it is completed.
Sarah Johnson, Polaris Marketing Specialist, said: “We congratulate Mr Crompton on winning the Polaris and are pleased to be able to help support gamekeepers through our partnership with the NGO. We would also like to thank Rafferty Newman, the authorised Polaris dealer, for all their good work with Polaris customers and their help with presenting the draw prize to the winner.”
Lindsay Waddell, Chairman of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, said: “Huge congratulations to Mr Crompton, the winner of the NGO / Polaris Prize Draw. I am especially pleased that the Polaris Ranger Diesel 1000 D will be so useful to him in carrying out his tree work. And I’d like to send thanks to Polaris, one of the NGO’s main sponsors, for putting up such a tremendous prize, as well as to all those who kindly bought tickets to help raise funds for the NGO.”
The specifications of the draw prize Ranger Diesel 1000 D include a 3-cylinder Tier 4 compliant diesel engine, Lock &, Ride® Pro-Fit cab system with optional premium upgrades, 10gal/37.6litre fuel tank, flip-up seat storage and Dual A-Arm front suspension, and double alternator output of 110 amps.
Polaris is the world leader in ATVs, the Polaris Sportsman being one of the best-selling ATVs of all time. As the All-Terrain Specialist, the company also offers the widest range of UTVs with the Ranger Diesel 1000 and six-seater Ranger Diesel 1000 Crew featuring as working and sporting vehicles for outdoor and recreational pursuits, especially keepering and shooting.
