The NGO is now accepting entries for its prestigious NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy

The National Gamekeepers' Organisation is now accepting entries for its prestigious NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy sponsored by Musto, which is awarded annually to the best gamekeeping student or apprentice of the academic year.

The award, now in its 7th year, is again being kindly sponsored by Musto, which is donating a Highland Gore-Tex Ultra Lite Suit, to the winning student.

Applications recommending students should come from college lecturers only and application forms have been sent to colleges offering gamekeeping and countryside management courses. However, additional forms are available from the NGO office. Both full- and part-time gamekeeping students and apprentices of the academic year are eligible to enter and the closing date for applications is Monday 19 June, 2017.

Last year's winner was eighteen-year-old Cormac Thompson, then studying at Hartpury College, Gloucester. He has since gone on to secure employment as an underkeeper at Todenham in Gloucestershire. He said: 'This award has been great for me as it gets your name out there. I am very proud to have won the NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy.'

The Chairman of the Natonal Gamekeepers' Organisation Liam Bell, will present the NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Musto, to this year's winner at the Midland Game Fair, Weston Park, Shropshire, on Saturday, September 16th.

The NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy sponsored by Musto is judged annually by senior members of the NGO and is awarded in memory of the late Frank Jenkins who was a well-known gamekeeper with a career spanning more than 60 years.

Emmie Brown, MUSTO Country Marketing Manager, said: 'Muto is delighted to support the National Gamekeepers' Organisation once again in 2017. As a brand we are keen to support young gamekeepers and are continuously looking for ways to give back to the shooting community. Supporting the work of the NGO is something very close to MUSTO, and we hope to continue providing support in years to come. We hope this year's winner will enjoy the Highland Gore-Tex Ultra Lite Suit.'

Application forms are available from the NGO office on (01833) 660869 or email info@nationalgamekeepers.org.uk
