Kings Game Cover and Conservation Crops is helping to support the work of the National Gamekeepers' Organisation (NGO) by running a series of game cover training days for gamekeepers and shoot managers in March 2013.
The three events will focus on delivering tips and advice to help grow and utilise game cover and conservation crops to best effect. There will be the opportunity to look at specific aspects of game cover production on the host shoots, and to discover the secrets of good agronomy. The training days will also allow participants to learn more about - and to see at first-hand - the machinery that is key to good game cover establishment.
The three events will be held on:
- Wednesday 6 March 2013 - Soundborough, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
- Thursday 9 March 2013 - Loyton, Tiverton, Somerset
- Thursday 14 March 2013 - Loddington, Leicester, Leicestershire*
*The event at Loddington will be held in conjunction with the NGO and the Game &, Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Gavin Howe, a gamekeeper from the Hayton High Estate in Cumbria, who attended one of last year's training days certainly found it useful: "The day was a great chance to see what different crops look like before we decided what to plant ourselves. It was good to hear other keepers' experiences with varieties and to learn about the difference factors such as soil testing and management and different drilling techniques can make."
Each day will run from 10am - 4pm and costs 20. Refreshments will be provided.
Numbers are limited. It is strongly recommend that places are reserved as soon as possible. To book call Kings on 0800 587 9797.
