Those visiting the Midland should look out for the Chairman of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation, Liam Bell, who will be presenting the new NGO Long Service Award in the main arena at 11.45am on Sunday 17 March.

The award is for full-time gamekeepers, stalkers and ghillies with 40 or more years of employment. A further, separate award category also recognises keepers, stalkers and ghillies with 50 or more years’ service. The winners will receive a unique, specially cast medal and a framed certificate.

Immediately following the NGO Long Service Award ceremony, NGO Chairman, Liam Bell, will present the NGO Frank Jenkins Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Musto. The industry leading award is for the best full- or part-time gamekeeping student or apprentice of the academic year. Frank Jenkins was a well-known gamekeeper whose career spanned more than six decades.

Also, on our stand are:

• representatives from CIC, the UK Trophy Evaluation Board. CIC is regarded by many wildlife experts as being the pre-eminent body of its type in the world and our link emphasises the strong bond that exists between gamekeeping and stalking. Under the terms of the arrangement, each NGO member will get a £5 discount on the first head of any species measured by CIC (on production of an NGO membership card). It is the ideal opportunity to get your trophy assessed.
• the team from Ariat, the NGO’s footwear sponsor, which manufactures state-of-the art, technical country footwear. On display will be Ariat’s new boot, the Catalyst Defiant, a product that is fast gaining a reputation as being perfect for the seriously active country person.
