1. Role Summary
The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and direction to the DI Partnership and to the Board of Trustees of DI Ltd.
The Deer Initiative Partnership provides the forum for co-ordinating action based upon the Deer Accord, supported by member organisations. The Chair's responsibilities include:
a) To chair meetings of the Dl Partnership (normally 2 per year).
b) To secure consensus between individual Dl partner organisations and others
with an interest in deer management issues.
c) To represent the Partnership at meetings with key organisations and promote its
objectives effectively.
In relation to the Partnership: The Chair's role is to lead and represent a broad based partnership of organisations, which includes government and others, to promote and deliver a co-ordinated approach to the sustainable management of wild deer in England and Wales.
In relation to DI Ltd: The Chair's role is to enable the Board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation.
The Chair will ensure that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations and to make sure that the
organisation pursues its objects as defined in its governing document. The Chair's role is also to work in partnership with the Executive Director and support the employees, helping them achieve the aims of the organisation, and to optimise the relationship between the Board of Trustees and the staff.
In addition to the general responsibilities of a Trustee, the Chair has a number of tasks specific to
their role.
