The auction catalogue boasts a dizzying array of game shooting. It ranges from wonderfully varied mixed-species days to duck flighting, from testing driven grouse to proper old-fashioned rough shooting and from quality driven pheasants to the thrill of being under the geese at dawn. And this is just a snapshot of what's on offer. There's much, much more shooting in the auction catalogue to savour, bid for and enjoy ...
Stalkers, too, are superbly catered for (among the lots are possible medal-headed muntjac, trophy roe bucks, big fallow, red hinds and wild boar). There's plenty of exciting fishing too and in both saltwater and fresh. You can opt to take trout on a refined upstream dry fly or choose to spend a day at sea wrangling porbeagles. You decide.
There are also other brilliant lots to bid on such as: moorland falconry with peregrines, pointers and grouse, a day's ferreting on a former nuclear base, a veterinary shoot visit, gundog training, lamping foxes, pigeon shooting on cut maize, and even learning the trick of winkling a lobster out of rocky clefts at the edge of the tide. Whatever the lot, one thing all have in common is the chance to get together in cheery company with like-minds, hosts who are determined to give the winning bidders a real day to remember.
Full instructions on how to submit bids are to be found in the NGO Auction Catalogue. Please remember, all bids must be with the NGO office by midnight on Tuesday 30 September 2014.
Brian Mitchell, NGO National Vice-Chairman, said: "There's a feast of fantastic sport in this year's NGO Auction Catalogue. It's overflowing with exciting sporting opportunities, whatever your interests. So please take advantage of it, get a catalogue and bid generously. All the proceeds go towards supporting the NGO's work in defending gamekeepers and gamekeeping. I'd also like to thank all those who have generously and kindly donated lots to the auction. Their far-sightedness is sincerely appreciated."
