Notes to Editors
The Gamekeepers’ Welfare Trust (GWT) was founded to support gamekeepers, stalkers and ghillies along with their dependents in disability, illness, poverty and old age along with a remit to support young gamekeepers who wish to make gamekeeping their career.
In recent years additional help has been provided through a helpline, information and visiting service which takes account of the needs of working keepers and loneliness as well as the isolation of individuals and families in difficult times or later life.
Other benefits include annual grants for individuals and families as appropriate, cards, gifts and flowers as well as letters and telephone calls. The job register is a feature, which enables keepers to regain employment and support is also available for students and young people who wish to make gamekeeping their career.
