The National Gamekeepers’ Organisation has welcomed the publication today (14 January) by the Department for Environment, Food &, Rural Affairs (Defra) of a Hen Harrier Action Plan, which seeks to co-ordinate a consistent and strategic approach to the conservation of this bird of prey.

The plan was developed by Defra in conjunction with the RSPB, Game &, Wildlife Conservation Trust, Moorland Association, National Gamekeepers Organisation, and National Parks UK. Natural England will lead on the six-point Hen Harrier Action Plan.

A spokesman for the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation said: “We welcome publication of a good plan and look forward to its early implementation in full.”
