The NGO and SGA  are urging all those who have not yet completed their conservation questionnaire to return them to the GWCT before the deadline of 30th June.

The National Gamekeepers’ Organisation (NGO) and the Scottish Gamekeepers Association (SGA) are delighted to announce that the deadline for their joint 2019 Conservation Survey has been extended to the end of June 2019.  This will give all those keen to take part more time to complete the questionnaire that forms part of the survey.

Liam Bell, Chairman of the NGO has already submitted his questionnaire and said, “To complete the questionnaire will only take 10 minutes.  To devote just these few minutes to complete and submit the form will be of vital importance to the whole profession for many years to come.”

The timing of this important nationwide conservation survey could not be more relevant.  It is becoming increasingly evident that there is little understanding on the range of benefits that game management contributes to conservation in the UK.  As Liam Bell says, “We do not shout loudly enough about how our efforts play a crucial role in preserving the habitats and wildlife that are so import to Britain’s biodiversity.  I would urge all those that have not yet completed their questionnaire to send it in before the deadline of 30th June.”

The NGO and SGA’s 2019 gamekeeper conservation survey is being collated and analysed by the independent research charity, the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT).  They will then produce a final report with the results released widely to policy makers, the media and general public in time for the start of this year’s shooting season.

Liam Bell said, “This is not the time for complacency or to leave it to someone else.  We need everyone involved in gamekeeping to take part in the survey.  If we are going to defend what we do then we need concrete evidence to prove the case that gamekeeping as a profession is a force for good in this country.  This is extremely important for all of us now and in the future.”

For those that would like to receive  a hard copy of the conservation report by post, please get in touch with Tina Brough on: 01833 660869.  Alternatively, the survey can be completed online by using he following link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/CST6TZV
