Gamekeepers are well aware of the evils of poachers and poaching. To play a bigger part in combatting this rural scourge, look out for the Crimestoppers STOP POACHING campaign.

Gamekeepers are well aware of the evils of poachers and poaching. But anything that can be done to raise awareness even further has to be a useful step in working towards stamping out poaching. With this in mind, Crimestoppers has launched a STOP POACHING campaign, backed by an eye-catching poster, to spread the word.

To report suspected illegal activity call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Landline calls are free, can be anonymous, and will not show up on your BT or cable phone bill.

The STOP POACHING campaign promotes four key messages linked to poaching activity. It asks: Do you know anyone who:

• Poaches deer or fish?

• Trespasses with dogs or firearms?

• Is involved in illegal slaughtering?

• Has a food business selling meat and fish illegally poached or processed?

Copies of the STOP POACHING poster, which is designed to help raise awareness of the campaign, can be viewed and printed by clicking here

The campaign, which was originally developed by Devon and Cornwall Police in conjunction a local NGO keeper member (read the full story on page 30 of the Winter 2014/15 issue of the NGO magazine, Keeping The Balance) went live nationwide under the Crimestoppers banner.

Notes to Editors

The NGO represents the gamekeepers of England and Wales. It defends and promotes gamekeeping, gamekeepers and ensures high standards throughout the profession. It was founded in 1997 by a group of gamekeepers who felt that their profession was threatened by public misunderstanding and poor representation. The NGO has around 15,000 members.
