Bright Seeds donates thousands of pounds to NGO

Bright Seeds has kindly presented the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation with a cheque for more than £4,000 to help fund the defence and promotion of keepering. The Salisbury based firm, Bright Seeds, which sponsors the NGO, raised the cash by donating a percentage of the revenue from the sale of each bag of Utopia, the popular and adaptable gamecover crop.

Utopia, which is a cross between black mustard and a wild Ethiopian kale, has much to offer shoots of all sizes, from small syndicates to large commercial shoots. Utopia can be planted in June or July at a low seed rate akin to kale, and establishes fast like mustard. It also grows quickly, and gives cover, with large kale-like leaves, by November. It is frost tolerant, and the plant’s very strong stems mean Utopia stands well.

Chris Bright, the Managing Director of Bright Seeds, said: "We are proud to be on-going sponsors of the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation. A proportion of our Utopia cover crop sales are donated annually to the NGO, and it gives me immense pleasure this year to be able to handover a cheque for £4,262.50 to help support its work. Bright Seeds has much common ground with the aims of the NGO, and our association with it and its membership are of huge importance to us."

Nick Stiff, the National Gamekeepers’ Organisation Regional Chairman for Wiltshire, who accepted the donation on behalf of the NGO, said: “I would like very much to thank Chris and Bright Seeds for so generously supporting the NGO through the sales of Utopia. Every penny will be put to good use in securing a future for keepering.”
